D

ave Roberts suffered two blood clots near his heart and a large cancerous tumor behind his left eye at age 25. He was left with little use of the right side of his body, and cognitive challenges with speech and memory.

It’s been seven years since Dave was given five years to live, when he couldn’t walk, talk or cook a meal. Now a PeaceHealth Southwest volunteer, he’s logged more than 1100 hours of volunteer service visiting patients and isn’t slowing down. He loves demonstrating his SaeboFlex and SaeboReach braces, which allow him to grip with his fingers and extend his elbow. “I talk to a lot of people who have had strokes, but don’t know what to do next. My hope is that my story inspires them.”
